Elakkizhi |
|
| |
Herbal poultices (bundles) are prepared with various herbs and medicated powders. The poultices are warmed in medicated oils and used to massage the entire body, neck, shoulders, hand & back, shifting the person from side to side. The massage can promote better circulation within the affected area thereby promoting increased perspiration, which helps the skin to eliminate wastes. It also helps to tone the skin and can be relaxing. |

Sirodhara |
|
| |
Sirodhara is continuous flow of oil or specially prepared herbal liquids on the forehead. Sirodhara is carried out, by using a pot having a yarn wick fitted in to the hole. This pot would be hanged over the wooden vessel in which the patient lying. The medication would be poured in to the pot and the liquid would be gradually trickled on to the head. The herbal oils, medicated milk, medicated butter milk etc. it would be carried out for about 40 to 45 minutes in a day. This treatment is very effective for people suffering with insomnia, loss of memory, head aches, anxiety and stress. |
